French RivieraAs you arrive in southern France, you will immediately feel the relaxed, laid back pace of the Mediterranean. There is no shortage of everything you expect from France; great cuisine, great wine, and amazing history, but the sea air and abundant sunshine makes everything seem to move just a little slower here. This tour will take you through the Provence region with its Roman sites, hill towns, vineyards, and lavender fields. From there it is on to the Riviera where you'll experience fun, sun, beaches, and some of the good life in places like Nice and the principality of Monaco. It is not hard to have a great time on this tour, the hard part is going back home. Tour Dates: TBA [Please Note: This tour is still being finalized. If you are interested in this tour please click here to contact us or sign up for our newsletter. That way you'll be one of the first to know when this tour is available to book.] - 7 nights, 8 days plus U.S. departure day The itinerary below is a representation of what the finalized tour will be. We intend to do, at a minimum, everything listed below, but there may be circumstances out of our control that require us to change the below itinerary. Day 0 - Depart from USA Today you'll be leaving the USA for Marseille. We refer to it as day zero because you won't actually arrive in France until the next day. Enjoy your flight and try to get some sleep.
Day 1 - Arrive in Marseille, France Marseille may be a large city with a bustling population, but it has a special charm and history that still make it a worthwhile place to visit. After transferring to your hotel, take some time to relax before a welcome dinner with the group and the guides who will be with you all week,
Day 2 - Provence Before soaking in the Riviera, we head inland into the heart of Provence where we'll be staying the night. We'll see wonderful Roman structures such as the Pont du Gard (pictured), a very beautiful and very well kept aqueduct, as well as the natural beauty of the region. We will also be sure to sample some of that world famous Provencal cuisine and Cotes du Rhone wine.
Day 3 - Nice via Eze Today we start the section of the tour that we're sure you'll be anxious for, the Cote d'Azur. On our way to Nice, the coastal city that will be our base for four nights, we stop by the remarkable hill town of Eze with its tiny streets and indescribably amazing views of the Mediterranean (pictured).
Day 4 - Monaco This morning we make a day trip out of France altogether and enter the Principality of Monaco. Monaco is one of the richest per-capita countries in the world and is the most densely populated country, although that's because it's less than 1 square mile. Even with its small size, Monaco is home to the world famous Monte Carlo casino and Grand Prix and absolutely chock full of luxury cars and yachts. Monaco seems at times to be a Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous museum, and is a sight to behold. In the afternoon we return to Nice for a relaxing evening.
Day 5 - Nice Best known today as a beach destination, Nice is actually loaded with historical significance. With as much (or more) Italian influence as French, Nice seems to retain the best elements of both countries. Its old town streets and architecture have inspired many, which is evident by the laundry list of artists that have spent time in this lovely city. Today your guides will show you around Nice while making sure you have plenty of time to find that perfect beach chair.
Day 6 - Cannes and Antibes Two stops on our trip today, the first being the city of Cannes. You all know it as the site of the world famous film festival, but it is also home to a very nice beachfront and plenty of high class shopping. Next we stop at the lovely resort town of Antibes (pictured). Once a quaint fishing village, Antibes pretty views and great light inspired a host of artists, with Pablo Picasso being the most well known. Antibes is still the home of many great Picasso works and we're sure you'll see what drew him to this town.
Day 7 - Marseille Today we head back to Marseille to enjoy our last night in France. As always, your guides will be available to assist you in finding exactly what you want to do.
Day 8 - Depart for USA After transferring back to the airport, you will catch your flight home. We hope you completely enjoyed your vacation.
