English Football (Soccer) Tour

If you are a soccer fan, this is a must. England is home to some of the greatest club teams in the world and many of the world's greatest player, and then there's the atmosphere. In England, football is a way of life and people follow teams from the small neighborhood club made up of part-timers to the massive Premier League clubs. There is nothing quite like it.

Old Trafford is the home of Manchester United, possibly the most famous sports team in the world.

The newly redesigned, state-of-the-art Wembley Stadium, where the National Team plays and the home of all major cup finals in England.

Arsenal is known for playing the beautiful game in a beautiful way. The top of the line Emirates stadium is their home field.

To truly get the feel of the English obsession with football you have to sample the lower leagues. That's where you'll find the "real" fans and get to see the players who play because they love the game. Plus you get to see things like the terraces (pictured) that are obsolete in the Premier League. This picture was from a match featuring Altrincham Football Club.

This is truly neighborhood football. This is from a match at the home of Marine Football Club, just outside of the city of Liverpool. Matches like this allow you to see a small field, where you can get very close to the action and should be added to the schedule of any traveling football fan.
